Boras “caved” on three-year request for Damon?

Damon has been looking for a three-year deal in the $39 million range, and even though sources say that Scott Boras caved on the third year, the Yankees weren’t willing to give Damon the same $13 million salary he earned in each of the last four years.

If Boras “caved” on his three-year demand, soon he could also “cave” on his request for $13 million per year. At this point, it is only a matter of time until Damon’s price drops to a more reasonable level. Though the Yankees signed Nick Johnson, don’t be surprised if they continue to monitor the Damon market — a  market 

which includes. he Giants, Mariners, Braves and Nationals — from a distance, only to swoop in at the eleventh hour and resign Damon to the cost-efficient deal he attempted to avert earlier. Everyone seems to have ruled out such a return, but, given the Yankees’ current left field alternatives, it does not appear to be an implausible idea.
